Payments to the City are about to get a whole lot easier, thanks to a brand new digital payment system from PayIt. Starting in the fall, Toronto’s residents, businesses, and visitors will be able to pay property taxes, utility bills and parking violations using this new digital platform.
The app will act as a digital wallet, allowing you to manage payment preferences, status, notifications and e-billing. In the future, you’ll also be able to pay permits, licences and court fines, and it will offer a wide range of payment methods such as Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), credit card or debit card.
“This is a step forward in modernizing our government and improving the customer experience for the residents we serve in a number of ways. Residents, businesses and visitors to Toronto want a simple, consistent and connected interaction with the City and this new service offering will help us deliver just that.” – Toronto Mayor John Tory.
Sounds too technical? Don’t worry, traditional payment methods will still be available to maintain accessibility for the diverse Toronto population.
